Rut Matthijsen on Holocaust Rescue

Distinguished biochemist Rut Matthijsen was part of the Utrecht Kindercomité, a small group of college students who were responsible for the rescue of hundreds of Jewish children during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands.  In this excerpt, Rut discusses the falsification and printing work he was involved with during the war, including the underground publication of Jan Campert's poem The Eighteen Dead which became the anthem of the Dutch Resistance.  He ends by sharing some of his views on science and ethics, and how the Holocaust might best be studied and taught.
